I started Dirt Floor in 2006 with little more than a dream, a handful of gear, and some dog-eared copies of Tape Op magazine. My only ambition was to make records the way I felt they should be made and work within the genres that I knew well (folk, roots, Americana, rock & roll, and singer-songwriter). After years of struggling to find the perfect studio and working with producers and engineers who never quite got it right, I decided to build this studio for musicians like me. Dirt Floor is not supposed to be everything for everyone, but if you’re looking to make your own “After The Gold Rush” or “Music From Big Pink”, you’re in the right place.
One thing that sets Dirt Floor apart is our passion for each and every project that comes through the door. I want your record to be as great as it can be, and will put my heart and soul into making that happen. If you’re a solo artist, I can add tasteful instrumentation. Whether your song needs bass, drums, pedal steel, organ, piano, or just some vocal harmonies, I’ve got you covered. If you’re a band, I’ll be there in the trenches setting up microphones and working with you to make every take a keeper.
When you come to Dirt Floor, you’ll leave with two things: A great record that embodies the “Dirt Floor Sound” and a permanent place in our family.
